We left Manitowoc Marina today and traveled 44.5 miles to Port Washington. On each of the past six days that we traveled we have had to motor as the wind was on the nose everyday. I am finding this a little tedious. Pounding around in big waves is just not that much fun. We do have a schedule to be in Chicago to have the mast removed so we must get there in the next few days but we decided to harbor in Port Washington for the night. Bliss motored on another 22 miles to Milwaukee where we will meet them tomorrow. Beer Capital of America. Home of the Miller Brewing Company, Pabst Brewing Mansion & Home of the original Milwaukee Iron Engine Plant (Home of the Harley Davidson Motor Company) The wind is supposed to be WSW so I am praying for a nice sail not a bounce.
But for now we are in Port Washington and its a beautiful little city. This port was named one of the best 10 harbors in the United States and it is. The marina is protected by two break walls and you can quickly walk to some great stores and restaurants. We did a quick tidy of the boat then took a long walk around. There are beautiful historic houses and buildings. The churches bells ringing made me smile. Best of all they had a homemade ice cream store that was calling my name!
